Panathenaic amphora with lid.

Panathenaic amphora of Cleofradis, a trophy of the ancient Panathenians.

The obverse depicts the Pallas Athena wielding her spear. In her left hand she holds a shield with the head of the medusa. Athena is flanked by two columns with the goddess Nike on each top. Before the left column we read the official inscription of the Panathenaic trophy “..ARCHON KALIMIDES

The reverse depicts a fight between two athletes. On the left stands the match observer.
